Happy Canada Day

Happy Canada Day to all Canadians.
I carved the keychain and pin for Canada Day.
The idea came from Woodcarving Illustrated Magazine, Summer 2011 Issue 55.

Niagara Woodcarvers 32nd Annual Show and Competition

My First Old World Santa

My first Old World Santa in the style of Mike Shipley. It is 2" x 2 1/4" x 7" Basswood painted with acrylics and antiqued.

                                     

Santa Holding Stocking

This is the second carving of Santa holding a stocking that I have done. It is 1 3/4" x 3" x 9" Basswood painted with acrylics and antiqued.

Santa Holding Quilt

This Santa from Basswood 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" x 5 1/2"  painted with acrylics. He is from a Ron Ransom book.
I am slowly finishing all the Santas that I have started on my bench.

Canadian Woodcarving Championship

The Canadian Woodcarving Championship is taking place at the 2011 Hamilton Woodshow on January 28, 29, & 30, 2011 at The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Mont Hope Ontario. For more info click on link.

Happy New Year

A belated Happy New Year to everyone. The following carving is from Woodcarving Illustrated Hand Carved Holiday Gifts Volume 2. It is called Candy Cane Santa Ornament and is By Dave Francis. It is located on Page 32 and has excellent instructions and photos. If you are a Santa and Snowman carver try to pick this one up you will not regret it. 
2" x 2-1/2" x 5-1/4" Basswood, Acrylic Paint, Antiquing and Water Based Satin Varnish.        Comments are welcome.
